Container Handling Equipment Manufacturers (CHEM)

- Formed in the late 1960s by companies who specialised in the manufacture of container handling equipment for the dry waste sector
- CHEM represents the interests of over 25 member companies
- CHEM is involved with standards within the industry and forming of legislation with bodies such as the HSE and the European Union
- Muni-Serv personnel sit on RCV and Skip and Hook committees
- All Muni-Serv Equipment is supplied to strict CHEM guidelines
The aims of CHEM are to:
- Develop and maintain technical standards which enhance the safety of the equipment
- Represent the interests of the members with related industry bodies which include:- ESA, CIWM, HSE, BSI, DTI, CEN and others
- Publish codes of practice covering the safe operation of equipment
- Provide a forum for discussion of topics of interest and benefit of the members and the waste industry as a whole
